Our Animations showing our W.I.T.S @ Paihia School

We have been using our animation skills to share our understanding around solving problems.  We have been discussing our W.I.T.S. and how we can use these to solve problems within the playground and classroom.  You will see that we are just learning to add our words to our animation.  We have cooperated with a buddy to plan our animation, we have planned a sequence with a beginning a middle and an end.  Then, we have created and shared our animations.

Little Red Riding Hood

One reading group was learning to read and present a play co-operatively together. The play was presented to an audience after they had created props and learnt their words that they were able to speak like the character that they were acting. We expected the text to be understood, responded to and appreciated by others.

Jamie's Winning Speech - Is Education Important?

Matariki Fun

Most of the Room Four students gathered at dawn to hopefully see the seven Matariki Stars before having a shared breakfast. During the day we participated in a variety of fun activities; kite making and flying, painting, constructing stars, flax weaving, string games, weaving flax flowers and flax duck quackers. We had a shared kai for lunch.

Leaf Art

During Autumn we had the opportunity to observe a variety of leaves. We used these leaves as our motivation for visual art. Before beginning our art we observed a variety of processes.

Tangrams

Room Four created tangrams using seven shapes. See what we were able to create.

Leaf Art leading to Hundertwasser.

We used autumn leaves to study line, form, texture and colour contrast as our motivation before studying a local artist's works as we have been selected to create bookmarks for an R.T.lit Conference at Waitangi. We also have a large playground called the "Corner of Dreams" at our school.

Pataua North Camp

We had a fabulous time at camp.
On our way we had morning tea at Whangarei Falls
When  we  got out  of the car me and Ngahuia were running down to the water fall. Then the teacher took us to see the water fall through a beautiful bush walk. there were lots of steps to get down the steep hill. When we got to the massive waterfall it looked scary.
Cheyenne Matanyadza

The wild water rushed over the waterfall.

At camp we went to the beach. We made a tall and deep volcano. I had to make  a volcano. It took a while to erupt. Then we covered it with seaweed. We went back to the beach then our volcano was bashed from the BIG waves.
George

When we went to camp I raced up the hill, put my stuff in the hall. Then we went to the beach and dug in the sand and made a volcano. George, Riley, major and I are best mates because they were the ones who built it. It was the best camp ever. WOW! It was so, so, so, so, awesome!
Isaiah Stillwell

We went to the beach to play in the sand. We dug a big hole. I got buried then they dug me up.
Jerome Rapana-Campbell

Jackie was making an Octopus and a Dolphin. I made a baby Dolphin and I loved it. I was nearly sitting on the ground in the water. It was cold and I splashed in it! Slish, splosh, splash.
Anyah Kumar-Oneroa-Reihana

Jackie took us in turns for rides on the kayak. She took Jamie in Room one for a ride first. Then she came back and she took me. She took me for a big ride out to the rocks.
Leonard Baker

In the morning at camp we went kayaking. I kayaked by myself, it was awesome. The water was cool and crystal clear. Lennix was snorkelling by me, I had great fun. On the second night of camp we played Spotlight. I got spotted on the first round. On the second round I didn’t get found. Lennix didn’t get found for two rounds. He was a good at hiding.
Major Howard –Quinn

I had an awesome time in the kayak.
At camp  I dived into the water and I found starfish in the shallow waters.
When I got out on the sand I dried up in the shiny sun and at night time I played spotlight. I hid in the toilet with Jerome and Lennix. We got found then we went to sleep.
At camp we played spotlight. Ezia hid in the bushes. I hid at the back of the door when you walk into the hallway to the toilet. Jamie, dale and I played bat down, I tried to roll the ball. When I went back I got stuck in the mud. I tried to get up but I couldn’t. We tried too. I went up and had an idea and I went down the swish, swash water then I jumped up, I jumped up the bank then I got stuck again but I got the tennis ball and the bat.
Isaiah Child

Early in the morning we went slip slopping on to the beach to go kayaking. I had to wait for my turn. Finally it was my tur. I paddled around the rock. My head bent in amazement.\

As I was writing in the freezing fresh air, it was whistling against me softly. I was sounding out the letters-a, e, i, o, u. I finally got it write.

At camp Mrs Neumann let us use a dangerous hot glue gun. It was excellent fun, amazing and exciting. I made a turtle with the hot glue gun. I also made a cool raft. Mrs Neumann took a photo. We used rocks, eyes, legs and ears.  They were made out of mussel and cockle shells that were empty. It was such weird and crafty fun. The creatures were learning on someone’s books-it was so exciting.
Lennix  Poulgrain –Takimoana

When, at camp, I was making a collection of rocks and shells. It was exciting making a rock race that I just made by myself. One was a bunny. When I made it this is what I need: two eyes, two googly eyes, pipi shells and one cockle shell and rocks for the hair. It wasn’t the only one that I made when I went up a hill. After that I made it at the camp. The rock collection was fantastic.
Mihipeka, Laws-Walker

At camp we walked through the squishy squoshy sand.It was disgusting. Over the sand we saw the rock pools.I raced to it.It was exhausting to walk that far.It was hot when I got there I dug a hole and hopped in it. It wasnice and cold.I found another rock pool we splished, splashed in the water.
The crab peeked out of the dark damp rocks. The crabs were hard to see as they were camouflaged in the rocks. The crabs were so sandy. Their pincers were sharp and spikey.
Jamie Smith

On the way back from the rock pools we all had to run to the squares. Missy, Isaiah and I were the first ones there. I was always rushing to get there first. I built my sandcastle first and the tallest, after that we had to work as a team and make a castle with a buddy, then with two, then three, then four people.
Vanya McKibben

As we lined up Mrs Neumann took a photo, everyone tried to smile, but we were all tired , hot and terribly hungry after our big camp. Everyone looked like they were going to doze off. Some people did not come up in the class photo line as they were with their parent helpers. WE went to look at the different birds. It looked like a zoo. We had a bird’s eye view of the bush canopy.
