W.A.L.T. have fun as a class with our whanau on Matariki Day at school. We were set a challenge to find something we could create for Matariki to share with the school.

Personification as a Figure of Speech

W.A.L.T. use personifications in our writing. We know that these verbs normally describe something a person or human does but when we use personifications we compare other things to humans. Human-like characteristics are given to a non-human.

Brisa's Birthday At Paihia School

I created an imovie of my eighth birthday. I shared my party with my all my friends who are all in my class. We had a yummy chocolate cake to eat as well as some delicious orange drink. We all played pass the parcel and Mum wrapped up a present for everyone to keep. All my friends were so excited as some had never played pass the parcel before. We sang Happy Birthday in three languages, English Maori and my Mum's mother tongue-Norwegian. What a great way to celebrate a birthday. Now all the kids in my class are eight now as I was the youngest.
