Christmas Parade
Once again Paihia School won the best float at the Paihia Christmas parade. But it didn't really matter if we won or not we had fun just participating in the parade and making our costumes. Some of us were sacks of pipis, others squaking seagulls and some of us were surfers with our surf boards.
Asthma
We learnt so much about how to care for our friends if they have asthma and how we can prevent ourselves getting asthma.
Pet Show
Well better late than never. W have had one of our i-pads unable to upload to our computer and youtube so many of our photos, imovies etc have not been visible. But we did have a fabulous Pet Show a School on 9th November. We had such a great variety of pets visiting our school and it is great to see what our friends are caring for at home.

Te Tahuri and Aston presented their weather report to the class.
SirChae and Jade's te huarere report
SirChae and Jade's weather report informed us what the weather could be in various cities and towns in New Zealand
Darcy and Yazmin's te huarere report
Darcy and Yazmin reported te huarere in te reo to our class. Yazmin was the news reporter and Darcy pointed to the towns and cities. They learnt how to speak with a louder, clear voice so the audience could hear and understand. Next time they are going to add weather symbols to their map.
Rocket Masters 2
Ayanda and Brisa wanted to show their experiment to their class and Te Awa class. They were so impressed after the experiment went so well without an audience, but when they first repeated it the experiment did not work they realised they had too much scum in the bottle so they refilled with fresh vinegar.
Rocket Masters 1
Brisa and Ayanda designed an experiment to blast a rocket into space. They used vinegar and baking soda that caused a chemical reaction. the first time the rocket exploded higher than the roof.

Te Huarere

Dragon and the Mice

Fruit Cross Sections
We created some cross section paintings of fruit using a new tool of cardboard to create the images. We scrapped, stamped, slid or twisted the cardboard pieces to give a different effect. We have been discussing healthy snack options after having Whaea Gina share information in our Energise programme.

Matariki Walk
Before Matariki our class Te Tahuna walked up to the Treaty Grounds to participate in a variety of activities. We learnt so much and had a fabulous time. We played a variety of traditional Maori games, saw the trees we planted last year and planted some new seedlings in the bush. This year we even had shared kai with our tutors.

Brisa's Birthday At Paihia School
I created an imovie of my eighth birthday. I shared my party with my all my friends who are all in my class. We had a yummy chocolate cake to eat as well as some delicious orange drink. We all played pass the parcel and Mum wrapped up a present for everyone to keep. All my friends were so excited as some had never played pass the parcel before. We sang Happy Birthday in three languages, English Maori and my Mum's mother tongue-Norwegian. What a great way to celebrate a birthday. Now all the kids in my class are eight now as I was the youngest.

To and From
W.A.L.T. create an i-movie to retell our trip to the Treaty Grounds. We learnt to plan our movie, write the text and insert images. We worked together as a team collaboratively. We had a fabulous walk up to the Treaty Grounds alongside our beautiful beach at Paihia. We were lucky to see so many birds,a frog and amazing native trees. We are so lucky to live in such a paradise.

Assembly 8th June-Zaapharj and Yasmin
W.A.L.T. present another exciting assembly where we all spoke and presented one part each. We had to learn what we were going to say to present our part. This is our third assembly for the year. We have had such wonderful feedback from so many other students in the school not to mention our proud parents and whanau. We are so proud that Zaapharj and Yasmin were able to create such an animated assembly with Maya's support.

Darcy and Ricky-May's Bike Ride
