After her speech this morning at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, Jacinda Ardern made her way down to Paihia School to meet students.
Northland MP Willow Jean Prime led Ms Ardern and members of the Labour caucus onto the school.
Students welcomed the Prime Minister with a pōwhiri and a boisterous performance of Utaina Mai before heading onto the field for a picnic lunch.
Ms Ardern was flanked by students as they asked her questions about politics, her favourite colour and hobbies.
Our class was really luck as Jacinda Arden sat amounst us while she ate her lunch.
Thea and Maya were really lucky to be given a banana muffin by Jacinta. It tasted yummy and they ate it it with great delight, not wasting a single crumb. Thea also gave her a beautiful necklace that she had especially made for her but she wore it as a bracelet.
Jacinda also shared her Mars chocolate bar with Thea, Jade, Maya, Ayanda, Brisa and Fern. It was so scumptuous and sticky because it had melted in the sun. Jacinda had to cut it with a plastic fork.
Jade was given a healthy salad from Jacinda. It was crisp and crunchy with a variety of lettuce, baby tomatoes, avocado, cuccumber, capsicum and salad dressing. It was so great to have something cool on such a hot day.
Teah bought some kauri wood and created a very special kauri pen for Jacinda that her her name engraved on it. Jacinda signed the cardboard box that it was presented in and now Teah has a special keepsake of her own to remind her of the day that our Prime Minister visted us at school.
