Treaty Grounds Matariki Visit

Te Moana walked to the Treaty Grounds with all the other students from Paihia School. We were involved in a variety of activities related to Matariki, our Maori New Year. We began by playing some games to improve our co-ordination, collaboration and communication in both silent and verbal ways of communicating. We really had to listen to the natural sound very carefully. we then planted some Native trees in the Native Bush at the Treaty Grounds. What a privilege-we hope to revisit in 10, 20, 30 or more years time and be able to see our trees that we planted to share with our Nation. Afterwards we wove some nikau to create some kites which we had had fun flying freely through the air with the most amazing background.
