• Team Doesn't have an “I”  in it.    
• Include others
• When there is some one that is left out go to them and ask them if they want to play with us
• Do not leave others out.

 W.A.L.T.  include others in our games. We are learning that we need to work together as a team, share skills and strategies so we can win fairly and everyone can participate. In life we need to make great relationships with others in teams, individually and in classes.

As Josh's ancestry is Scottish he with Dale's support inquired about celebrations in Scotland. The boys learnt so much but the class and myself are still awaiting a haggis for lunch one day.

Dale's Triathlon

The Triathlon

On Friday we did a kids Triathlon at school. I had to start at the beach but before we started the Triathlon, the seniors had to go first and we got a little bit of time to play and build a sandcastles Kaavin, Jahrell, Jack, Kayden, Calais, Shay and I built the biggest sandcastle. Kaavin, Jahrell, Kayden, Calais, Jack, Shay and I were so tired after we build the sandcastle.

The water was as cold as a polar bear. All the boys had to run straight for the sea then we had to run all over the hot sweaty sand Then we ran over the sweaty hot and I mean hot road I got so sweaty I nearly melted to the end of my life.

The waves were as big as an elephant. The triathlon was as long as a giraffe's neck. The triathlon was so cool I had to run back to the school it took a little while to get to the school.

When I got to my bike I had to put my shoes on but there was a little problem with my shoes because my shoes had a knot in my shoelaces. Before I got on my bike two people helped me put on my shoes, it was really hard to put on one of my shoes. I got on my bike so fast I got in front of Jahrell and Calais. I came in 4th place when I finished the race. After the race I ran to get an ice cream or an ice block then I went to go play on the field. I played rugby and soccer. After we finished our race we went to go and watch the little kids do their race. My little brother was in the lead of all the other little kids in his class and all of the kids in my classroom cheered for Tamati, my little brother.

At the end of the day all the kids at the school went home on the bus actually some of the kids went home in cars.

Friday was the best day I’ve ever had. At the end of the day I felt so very tired after the day ended. That was the best day I’ve ever had. The best thing I had at the school’s triathlon is the swimming and the biking and also the running. I love the the triathlon. I feel like going in the real triathlon.

That was the  best day I’ve ever had before. All of the teachers said, “Keep on going kids!” and so I did keep on going, I was so lucky I got a musliu bar. I was as brave as a tiger going to jump on someone and that was how happy I was. At the end of the day all of the children at Paihia School went home and when I got home I played rugby with my mum and dad then we had so diner than got John and played rugby. I won the whole entire game of rugby. Then Isaiah came back from hip hop.  My dad and I were on a team and we were playing against  my brother and my friend John. John and my brother were not that good against me and my dad was so good we won the game again. We’re the best sportsmen in the world.

Swim Safe Lesson 1

Swim Safe One

We rolled into the water. At swim safe we ran to the old chilly changing room then everyone put on a life jacket. We got into the springy shiny water. It was as much fun as climbing an old huge tree. We fell backwards onto our backs. We creating a linked chain, a straight line and a huddle it was fun.  We lay in the pool like we are sunbathing. We practiced and had to pretend that we had had a shipwreck in a boat and had to survive in the sea for a long time.

We did swim safe with tricky Tracey.

All the girls and boys got out and got back into the old chilly changing room. The boys were so fast that they had time to go for a run before returning to the classroom instantly.

Carry Chromebooks with Two Hands

I will carry my Chromebook with two hands

I will not hold a chromebook with one hand because it will drop on the ground and then it will smash. I will always hold a chromebook with two hands so it does not drop on the ground and does not smash. I do not want it to smash because I want a chromebook and I don’t want to write in my writing book ever again. I like writing on my chromebook not in my writing book.

Dale Goes to Action World

               Action World

On Wednesday morning room 0,1,2,3 and 4 went to Action World. Once we got to Action World we had some thing to eat but we were walking, we walked the biggest longest road crossing. everyone ran to the table and started to eat their food, when we went to go play Vinnie and I ran to the cars but on the way to the cars the lady said, “Don’t run, walk!”

3D Hundertwasser Art

We used hundertwasser's   art forms as an  inspiration for our art works. We created 3D shape nets for geometry in mathematics, including cones, cylinders, cubes, rectangular and triangular prisms to add a 3D effect.

Transformation in Geometry

Transformation: 

At assembly we presented our three charts that we all contributed to to demonstrate the key idea of transformation. At level 1 is that the position and appearance of an object can be changed by reflecting (flipping), translating (sliding) and rotating (turning) it. At level 1 students understand that objects can be moved in space.  Together as a class we have completed our Geometry unit with revision of Stage 1.

Reflections (flip). Objects can be reflected or flipped through lines which are external (outside) to the shape, or which run through the shape. Objects which have been reflected are described as mirror images of the original object. 

  Rotations (turn): Objects are turned in a circular motion around a fixed point, which is called the centre of rotation. The centre of rotation can be inside or outside the shape itself. The amount the object is turned is called the angle of rotation. 

Translations (slide). Objects that have been moved by translation, or sliding, look the same as the original object, but they are in a different position.

Golf at School

Golf by Dale and Jamie Paul is a super golf coach. He brought some great equipment for us to learn how we play golf. Really good golfers can earn lots of money. We learnt to point our feet at the tee. We learnt how to hold a club with two hands. We were “not” allowed to throw the ball at the target. The lowest score in golf wins. We are so “HAPPY” that you let us play golf with you. We are really looking forward to our next lesson next week.

Our play that we are presenting to an audience starts when Billy Goat One wants to go over the bridge to eat some grass. Billy Goat  Two comes  along then the Troll popped up from under the bridge and said, “I’m a troll, I’m a troll and I live down a hole,” “ Who are you, Are you going to eat some grass,” “Yes!” “I’m going to eat you up,” said the troll. Billy Goat Two went over the bridge and the troll popped out of the bridge and the troll said, “I’m a troll and the second Goat said, “Go away!” “I want to eat some grass.” “The troll said, “I’m going to eat you up,” and the troll said, “I’m a troll, I’m a troll, and I want to eat you all up.” Billy Goat Three went over the bridge and the troll popped out of the bridge.                         

Matariki Kites

Maori flew kites traditionally as a symbolic connection to Matariki. Kites were seen as a connection between the heavens and earth. We made our kites out of all sorts of things. We used flax, bamboo, sticks and tied them at the corners. We had to make a tail so that the kites balanced when they flew.

Is White, Milk or Dark Chocolate the Best?

Hi, my name is Dale.

I think that white chocolate is the best, because it tastes so delicious.

Firstly, it looks like a pencil. It tastes milky and it tingles when you eat it. It tastes delicious. It melts in your mouth when you eat it.

Secondly, my Dad can make yummy white chocolate. He can make animals with moulds and Easter Eggs. He can make a tiger with white chocolate.

Thirdly some people say that white chocolate isn’t chocolate. IT IS if it has ⅕ cocoa butter. The first Milky Bar was made is 80 years ago.

To conclude white chocolate is best because it doesn’t make kids dirty when they  eat it.

Bike Track Opening at Paihia School

On 14th April Paihia School Opened its' Pump Track on a wet Thursday morning. We are all so excited because we want to ride our bikes and scooters both during a school day and after school and in the weekends and holidays. We are very greatiful to everyone who has made this possible for us.

Today our reading groups were learning to present a play to the class using phrasing, intonation and expression. We can read the text silently when someone else is reading their part in the play.
