Gala Day Video

W.A.L.T. create a video using trailer on our i-pad. We had to ensure that we spelt all our words correctly the first time as it is tricky and time wasting to correct them. We had some of our photos deleted about our Gala day which was really disappointing but any way our creative learning was more about the process rather than the final product. The most important thing was that our class learnt so much about creating products to sell for profit at our Gala. We made $670 which was FANTASTIC for our camp to Cooper's Beach later in the month.

Isabella-Paige's Triathlon

Triathlon
On Friday I felt  so happy as  Paihia School went to the sandy beach and Mrs Williams said, ”The year 4 are last,” but we finally got a turn. We ran in the  sandy water and it was really sandy.
We ran in but it was so warm and I came second in the swim. My mum said, “Go Isabella and I can hurry,  Go, go, go!” I splashed  in the run. Back to school I came second. They said, “You have to get your bike”, but I said that I am using the school bike so I got on number 8 and I walked my bike.
I was using  my kaha.. Mikaila and I got so tied that we wanted to walk.

Mrs Neumann said, “Go and  have same lunch  I was hungr.y My mum came to sit with me, Jade, Mikaila, Neveah and  Angela. It was us fun. It was as SLIDELY Sparkly, Spankly, Spacely…….  It was so much fun. We had a big day. Then the Junior girls in our class got to have a big turn. Ataahua, Nikara and Zara  ran as  fast as dogs. Then it started to get cold. The wind was as cold as ice.
To condude, when I got home I was tired I almost feel like I was going to go to sleep immediately.

Swim Safe Lesson 1

Swim Safe One

We rolled into the water. At swim safe we ran to the old chilly changing room then everyone put on a life jacket. We got into the springy shiny water. It was as much fun as climbing an old huge tree. We fell backwards onto our backs. We creating a linked chain, a straight line and a huddle it was fun.  We lay in the pool like we are sunbathing. We practiced and had to pretend that we had had a shipwreck in a boat and had to survive in the sea for a long time.
We did swim safe with tricky Tracey.

All the girls and boys got out and got back into the old chilly changing room. The boys were so fast that they had time to go for a run before returning to the classroom instantly.

Water Colour Paintings

For our calendar art we used a dry brush painting technique, we realised that we did not need to cover  all the paper as blank white areas enhanced our paintings.

I won a First Prize for my Round Wine Creation at Paihia School's Pet Show Day. I learnt how to use an icing nozzle that Mum bought for me to use. I might be a baker and decorate cakes when I grow up. It is good fun icing cakes especially when I could taste it. Everyone liked my clock that I made. Mrs Neumann took my clock to the Bay of Islands Show and I won a second prize and also got $5.00.

Play-Telling the Truth by Mark, Isabella-Paige, Calais and Jade

Last term our Reading Group read then acted a play "Telling the Truth" Mum was busy when her two naughty boys were playing with a balloon inside that knocked and broke her vase. The boys told a lie and blamed the cat. We were sad so we told Mum the truth later. We shared our play with the Room 0, 2 and 3 children.

We had to read with good expression making our reading sound like talking. We are also learning to read silently and follow the words when other people are reading.

Lilli-Rose's Speech--"Are Pets Beneficial?"

 Are Pets Beneficial?

Welcome dogs and cats, Oops! I mean boys and girls. My name is Lilli-Rose. I think pets are beneficial, they help us a great deal, and protect us a lot, to be honest, enormously! “Don't you agree?

Firstly, one of my reasons why is, supporting people.. Guide dogs guide people to where they want to travel or visit and make sure that they don’t get lost. Guard dogs guard people's homes- if a robber comes- not saying they will come, but maybe, we're not sure, if a robber comes then a dog (or dogs) could alert or notify their owners that someone has arrived. And cats help us so much, catching mice and rats. If we had these grubby little pests ruling our homes, think of the diseases they could spread. And that reminds me of a story, once a woman saw a cat by her driveway,  and she brought  her in. And a few weeks later she had a fire and she didn't know, but the cat smelt the burning fumes and alerted her, so now she's alive, just because of that special cat.

Secondly, animals can be beneficial for people’s health. Studies have also found that: Dog or Cat owners are less likely to suffer from depression than those without pets. People with dogs or cats have lower blood pressure in stressful situations. Playing with a dog or cat can elevate levels of serotonin, which helps calm and relax us. Stroking, hugging, or otherwise touching a loving animal can rapidly calm and soothe us when we’re stressed or anxious Dogs in particular can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness, and even improve your heart  condition. Caring for a dog can help children grow up more securely and actively or provide valuable companionship for older adults. I bet your parents would love this one less visits, to the doctors, if you have a pet yaaaaaaaaay.

Thirdly, Children and adults alike, can benefit from playing with dogs, which can be both a source of calmness and relaxation, as well as a source of stimulation for the brain and body. Not only do children who grow up with pets have less risk of allergies and asthma, many also learn responsibility, compassion, and empathy from having a dog or cat. Playing with a dog can even be a doorway to learning for a child. It can stimulate a child’s imagination and curiosity. The rewards of training a dog to perform a new trick, for example, can teach kids the importance of perseverance.
Lastly,  perhaps most importantly, though, a dog can add real joy and unconditional love to your life.
To conclude as you can see I think the whole world makes sense with pets  and their love. care and cuddling and best of all help I hope you have learnt something today! So go and find a pet to cuddle.

Isabella-Paige's Speech "Should we Have Popcorn at School?"

Should we Have Popcorn at School?

I think we should have popcorn at school.

Firstly, I  think  we  should  have
Popcorn  at  school  because it yummy
and  tastes delicious.
Secondly, it  is a  healthy snack and so it is good  for  you. It has no junk food in it or sugar in it.  It is  crunchy and I like to munch it.
Thirdly, I think  making it is cheap  and doesn’t cost too much money.

To conclude I think we should eat healthy snacks at school so that our brain can work much better. So throw away the junk food and eat POPCORN at school.
