The Best Day of Mere's Life

                                 Amazing School Triathlon!
                     By Mereawaroa Apiata Simon-Hau
On, Friday on the twenty fourth I felt very exciting because it was the day to get ready for the triathlon. My sister jumped on my knees I was laughing and I couldn’t stop it. Then I was getting ready for the amazing triathlon today.
Earlier in the morning I was very excited because it was Paihia school I felt awesome so I got changed into my clothes and rushed to my bag and ran down stairs then I made lunch and got to the bus in time. I was at school getting ready.
When, the bell rang all of the class went to sit down. As we did it Te Moana was the last ones to get into the sea. And we were safe to cross the road
Breeze and I were at school, a big girl helped me to put on my shoes on and she said that we don’t need to put on our socks. I saw a school bike so I took it and I was biking as fast as a cheater,  I saw fire breaks and Mrs Neumann  I was coming fourth. Jade was coming second and Imogen was coming first. Then I was coming third and Mikaila was coming fifth at in the biking, so I tried my best. Then I came second place and my friend Jade was coming first. We got a peanut butter bar and it was super delicious.
Later it was the juniors turn. The juniors were staying at Paihia school and they were swimming in the school's pool.  They did two laps in the pool then they did two laps on the bike they went on to the field and they went on the bike track.
Iit was the most amazing thing in my whole life and I enjoyed it. The whole in entire school went home because of the fantastic day that we had in Paihia School Triathlon day. But before they went home Te Moana held the most amazing assembly in the world because we are the coolest class in the world.
When I got home I was exhausted, I fell down on my Mum and Dad’s bed. I was about to fell asleep like a cat, as the weather was as super hot as mars,  we went to the Lillypond to have a swim then we were nice and cool.
It was the fantastic day of my entire life from inside of my body to the top of my head, I loved it all the things in the triathlon.

Swim Safe Lesson 2

                                            Swim Safe Two.

Last week, when we were doing some swim safe with Tracy, she taught us things like,” Don't go in the water if you are worried and put your up and shout out very loudly and shout, Help, Help, Help!!”.
The water was as warm as a bathtub in the pool. We were practicing to rescue the person in the water with the flutter board. Some people felt they were sinking like a big boulder. We were floating as a balloon in the water.
When we got in the pool we got a floating device.  Tracy gave us a rope. We had to throw the rope to our buddy to rescue them.
Lastly, then we had to tow them in towards us. As we did it they slowly came to us. We all felt very happy and we were laughing so much we couldn't stop. But Beware that  you aren't grabbed and dragged under by the drowning person.

Mere's Chromebook

10.2.17 Amazing Chromebook Day
Today it was an exciting day because it was Chromebook Day. And I couldn't sleep at all. So I woke up as fast like a cheater. I grabbed my bag and stomped down stairs as loud as a elephant and got my lunch and went to school.
When I got to school and when the bell rang we lined up by the door and went to the whare. When we went into the whare their was lots of colourful balloons, some comfy chairs then got our chromebook. Everyone took their chromebook back to their class.
When everyone in Te moana returned we all were as wet as a rain pouring so badly then after lunch we explored our chromebooks.

Purerehua by Lilli-Rose, Mere and Jade

Purerehua
We made curved purerehua. They were smooth and looked like diamonds and stars in the sky. WE made koru decorations on them. We had to use them carefully as they are sharp at the sides. They are a Maori musical instrument. The purerehua is named after it's buzzing sound (like that of a butterfly, insect or bird's wings) is a bull roarer.

Mere's Speech-"Should we have Fish and Chips at School?"

Should we have Fish and Chips at School?

Yes we should have fish and chips because it’s good for your brain and it’s very natural too.
Firstly I think we should have fish and chips because it’s super, tasty, chewy, soft with crunchy batter and it’s salty and it’s very yummy for you us. Fish is one the healthiest foods on the planet. It has lots protein and vitamin D. Fish is important for your body and brain.

Secondly I like fish and chips because it can make you very healthy. The fish can make you brainier. You could  write a lot, not one sentence at a time. Once you just ate a piece of fish you could write a lot of writing on a chromebook or in your writing book. Fish is so very Healthy and you could get very fit and run very fast. That would be be very very good for you.
Thirdly I like fish and chips because it’s very warm on a cold day. Fish is easy to cook and you can eat it raw. Fish helps your eye sight. It can help you sleep better. Fish helps prevent asthma.
Fourthly, potatoes are one of the most common and important foods in the world. They have lots of fibre, vitamins and minerals in them. They can stop heart disease and give you stronger bones.

So to conclude we should have fish and chips at school as they are so healthy for you. They can help you do all the things that are good for us, sleep, see and  learn. So I think we should have them on our lunch order list.

Thankyou letter

Room Four

School Road
Paihia

Dear Matua Mori,
Thank you for taking us to the Treaty Grounds it was fun.The waka and the whare runanga surprised me. Matua taught us two games. The first game that Matua should us was runga, raro, maui matau, that game was fun. After that Matua told us the last game it was paddling up the hoe. It was fun.
Then after that we went to walk up the hill to see the whare. When we got to the top of the hill we saw the whare then we all went inside the whare. There were some kowhaiwhai panels and tukutuku weaving in the whare. They were colourful and koru patterns.  We saw some seats, after that Matua told us all of the things about the carvings. I wish we could go there again.

Thanking you

Tiny owl and the Prickly Plant

Today our reading groups were learning to present a play to the class using phrasing, intonation and expression. We can read the text silently when someone else is reading their part in the play.
