               Action World

    On Wednesday at 9 o'clock  We were going to Action World we packed our bags.  Then started to walk down School Rd.

      

          We all Had a buddy I had Mark. Soon we made it. We had Some morning tea. After the lady Told us That we can go We ran to the games like animals .

    

         First I ran to the little cars. I also did the corn dog fighting … I was fighting Vinnie he just won! Soon I went on the water slide I got dressed then  ran up to the top of the water slide. I was super fast and we got really cold at the bottom of the slippery slide. I zoomed down 4 times then ran off. Then I went on the cars then we walked home.

    

         Lilli~Rose saw her Mum she got picked up, we kept walking to school. I can't wait until we go to Action World again.

Water Colour Paintings

For our calendar art we used a dry brush painting technique, we realised that we did not need to cover  all the paper as blank white areas enhanced our paintings.

Putiputu Procedure

Puti Puti (flower)

Goal:

Create a Putiputi flower by flax weaving

Equipment:

• flax
• knife

Steps:

1.Collect a piece of flax

2. Use your nails to make stips but leave a bit for the handle

3. Get the first strips then go over under over until you have one more strip

4. Repeat until you have a circle

5. Twist the flower round & round then tie it then put it under a chair to keep it’s shape

  Conclusion:

Next time make the strips  tighter  and split the flax more

Making Popcorn

W.A.L.T. write a procedural text and comment on the text so that we could modify the procedure if necessary.
we also learnt how to take a photo using our chromebooks.

 Equipment:

• Dried corn kernels 
• Popcorn maker 
• Electricity
•  Measuring scoop
•  Lid 
• Bowls    

Steps:

• Plug in machine
•  Put 1 scoop of kernels in the machine 
• Put lid on. 
• Place catching bowl in front of the machine 
• Turn on machine
•  Be patient while it heats before popping 
• After it pops catch the popcorn in a bowl
•  Eat the popped corn 

Conclusion:

• Next time we need have chocolate popcorn as it was a bit dry.

Today we were learning to add a comment to our procedural text so that we may adjust the procedure if were to follow it again.

Indie commented-It was a bit dry so give it some flavour with caramel, butter or chocolate.

Jade, Franky, Mere and Jamie commented that the popcorn needed some butter to make it taste better.

Liam and Mere commented that we should have made rainbow popcorn.

Mikaila and Lilli-Rose commented that the popcorn needed some chocolate melted onto it.

Kingston commented that the popcorn tasted yummy and did not need any unhealthy stuff on it.

Franky's Speech-"Is Art A Waste of Time?"

             IS ART A WASTE OF TIME.

I think Art is great fun for kids because it makes us feel better and it is lots of fun.  When we are doing art activities we are using lots of different skills that helps our brain to learn.

Firstly art can be painting, drawing, making and building, it can also enhance our self-esteem.  Art is my middle name. art is great. and I like art.  Do you know what art is? It is the skill of creating something new. Something that requires a  lots of skill.

Secondly art can be special to you. It can be supe beautiful and pretty.  It’s  a great talent. Im good at art. Art is what I do to have if you are really good at art work.  I am good at art because art is what I do and what I love.  Art is super. It is great for rainy days . I made a scafe.

Thirdly you can run wild and show your imagination, be creative you’ll get better and smarter.  Express  your self in your art work, art can be anything you want and it does not matter what it looks like to anyone but you.

To conclude I think we should do art every day.  Thank you for listening to my speech.  Did you like it? Our world would be an empty place with out art.

Dear Matua

Thank you for showing us around Waitangi Treaty Grounds. I learned a lot because of you. I did know that the waka goes out on Waitangi Day ! 140 is a lot of people to go on one waka. I didn’t know that the tail on the waka was the design that modern aeroplanes use . How does it do that. The whare  runanga was cool. I liked the game with the paddles. The carvings in the whare were  as smooth as silk . Room 0, 3, and 4 had lunch on the little deck . I can’t wait until we do that again.

Which Pets Are The Best? Argument by Franky

This is the first time I have used a chromebook (with a little bit of help from a buddy) to write an argument using google slides. I have meet all the success criteria of writing my argument. I enjoyed inserting the pictures to make the argument much more interesting to share with everyone.

Shared Argument "Cooking at School"

We are learning to write arguments, so what better way to begin than to write about something we are passionate about-(On Fridays as part of our whare inquiry and maths measurement not to mention oral language, co-operative learning, managing ourselves, relating to others and participating and contributing it is the highlight of our week. Cooking at School-Shared I think that we should have cooking at school. As our school motto is together we learn and prepare for the future so we should be learning through cooking to help us be cooks when we are older in the future. Firstly we don’t get bored when we are cooking. It is fun and the food is so yummy. Secondly some students may be starving and hungry with rumbling tummies. We can’t study if we run out of energy and are hungry. Thirdly having a shared lunch is so much fun with another class. We like being kind to other people. To conclude we get two rewards one in our tummies and the other one in our heart because we feel special when we celebrate with friends.

We woke up fast I grabbed my rod and tackle box then drove to Opua wharf. We brought chilly bin, hooks, bait, scissors, plastic cups, and plastic  bottle. Archie, Mum,  Dad,and I. We went to have fun. We drove around lunch time. We got a hot pie from the bakery Mum had a coffee.

Then a tug was on the line.We caught a pretty fish it was too small. I used a towel and dropped it back in after I reeled it in with Mum. I got to put it back. Soon we packed up then drove home smoothly on the road. Maybe next time we will catch more!

Today our reading groups were learning to present a play to the class using phrasing, intonation and expression. We can read the text silently when someone else is reading their part in the play.
